Week 11 fantasy football rankings, Defenses

  1. Seahawks vs. 49ers. The Seahawks are a no-brainer at home against a bare-bones 49ers offense piloted by Blaine Gabbert. This will get ugly.

  2. Broncos at Bears. Gotta love fantasy’s top defense against a team giving up more than 10 fantasy points per game (FPPG) to D/STs. Denver’s corners and pass rush are going to make life difficult for Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery.

  3. Panthers vs. Redskins. The Panthers present a much tougher test for Kirk Cousins and the Redskins than the Saints did last week. We expect a much different result, too.

  4. Eagles vs. Buccaneers. Though rookie Jameis Winston is playing better lately, he’s still a mistake-prone quarterback in a conservative offense. We expect the aggressive Eagles defense to take advantage at home.

  5. Rams at Ravens. It’s not a great matchup on paper, but we’re not shying away from a talented Rams D against Joe Flacco and the Ravens.

  6. Jets at Texans. If Darrelle Revis can slow down DeAndre Hopkins even just a little bit, the Texans will have trouble moving the ball against the Jets. Brian Hoyer is good for a few mistakes, too.

  7. Patriots vs. Bills. The Patriots rank second with 30 sacks, while the Bills are tied for seventh with 27 sacks allowed. Expect Tyrod Taylor to be scrambling for his life Monday night, especially if Jamie Collins (illness) is back.

  8. Cardinals vs. Bengals. We’re downgrading the Cardinals D/ST a bit this week with the high-scoring Bengals offense allowing the third-fewest FPPG to defenses. You’re probably still starting Arizona in most cases, though, especially at home.

9. Chiefs at Chargers. The Chiefs have been one of fantasy’s hottest defenses in the past month-plus, racking up 17 sacks and 13 takeaways with a fumble-6 in their last five games. Meanwhile, the Chargers have given up plenty of fantasy points to good defenses this year, so we expect K.C. to stay hot.

  1. Packers at Vikings. We’re holding out hope that the Packers D/ST can stop its recent skid and take advantage of an offense that’s allowed 25 sacks. Of course, the main problem will be slowing down Adrian Peterson in Minnesota.

  2. Dolphins vs. Cowboys. Though the Cowboys should get Tony Romo back this week, that doesn’t make them unstoppable. He’s always good for a couple of mistakes, and could have some rust to shake off in his first game since Week 2. Expect the Dolphins’ improving pass rush to get after him in Week 11.

  3. Texans vs. Jets. The Texans have taken advantage of good matchups lately, and this could qualify as another golden opportunity. Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had surgery on his left thumb last week and may not be 100 percent for Week 11. If he’s limited or replaced by Geno Smith, this is a good spot for the Texans D/ST, especially with Brandon Marshall already slowed by injuries.

  4. Falcons vs. Colts. Consider the Falcons a matchup-based flier at home against Matt Hasselbeck and the Colts.

  5. Bengals at Cardinals. We’re hesitant to trust the Bengals in Arizona after Carson Palmer just carved up Seattle in Week 10, but they’re likely safer than the alternatives below.

  6. Jaguars vs. Titans. Pure matchup play as the Titans are allowing the most FPPG to defenses, thanks in part to allowing 29 sacks. It helps that the Jags are at home in primetime Thursday night.

  7. Titans at Jaguars. This one could be a fantasy “defensive battle” with the Jags allowing the fifth-most FPPG to D/STs, thanks to 28 sacks allowed and 11 interceptions thrown. Expect a lot of mistakes Thursday night.
