In Week 8, Mike White reminded us why we’re always opting to play QBs in the superflex spot, and in Week 9, he got injured early on and was replaced by Josh Johnson – who went on to be the No. 7 overall scorer on the week. This was a wild turn of events, but we’ve seen this movie several times already this year. So, yes, we’re advising you to start Mike White (vs. Buffalo) over RB2s and WR3s. Even “bad” QBs with bad matchups have safer floors and higher ceilings than other positions. That’s especially true in standard leagues.
As always, we have our standard flex rankings, too, which, unlike positional rankings, are most important from the middle to the end. We have plenty of WRs toward the bottom of the list because they have the higher ceilings, but if you’re looking for a higher floor, at least in standard leagues, you should consider an RB who gets more guaranteed touches. Injuries to key running backs have opened the door to backfield committees, which creates more low-ceiling-but-viable RB prospects.
