As mentioned, the flex rankings are thin. Even with a handful of backs potentially returning from injury, it sounds like Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) will be out once again along with several other top producers at RB. Beyond that, it’s harder to find matchup-based plays this week because three of the NFL’s worst defenses – the Jets, Cowboys, and Falcons – are all on bye. That takes away some of the depth that can help offset the injury losses.

WEEK 10 STANDARD RANKINGS:Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

There still are some good matchups on the slate. The Rams receivers look strong this week in a battle against a Seahawks defense that has given up more fantasy points per game to WRs than any other team in the NFL. That will make Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp top plays while Josh Reynolds could draw legitimate flex consideration this week. So should the RBs for the Ravens, Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins, who are taking on a Patriots defense that has allowed an average of 131.8 rushing yards per game to RBs in its past four outings. Those matchups certainly help create some extra depth, especially at the RB spot, where all the help in the world is needed to solidify things.

One underrated aspect in choosing a flex play is knowing what your lineup needs to earn a win. Do you need to find a safe, high-floor option to play? Going with an RB is usually the right move since they’re guaranteed touches. Zack Moss (@ ARZ) would be a good example of this, as he’s not a flashy playmaker, but he does get carries and TDs. Conversely, if you need a higher ceiling, go with a receiver since they are more likely to break a big play or rack up a few long receptions in coverage. Darnell Mooney (vs. Vikings) would be a good example of that option this week.

WEEK 10 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em

One last friendly reminder: always put the player with the latest-starting game into your flex spot once you choose your top option. That gives you more flexibility just in case there are any last-minute injury updates, cancellations, or anything other issue that may pop up.
