Not a lot, though. It really does get sad outside the top names of Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz, George Kittle, O.J. Howard, and Evan Engram. That’s what makes streaming tight ends an appealing strategy, and you can start it as soon as the opening week with names like Darren Waller (vs. Broncos), Geoff Swaim (vs. Chiefs), and Noah Fant (@ Raiders). If you’ve heard of all three of those players, you’re already ahead of the game.

Many of you might be stuck with veterans at the position, just hoping that they catch a touchdown in a given week. Delanie Walker, Jordan Reed, Greg Olsen, or Jimmy Graham: The fact that those players are still fantasy relevant is definitely not an exciting prospect (though Walker is actually in a good spot this week). We might see the changing of the guard to some extent throughout the season, but for now, many of you will lock in your TE spot like it’s 2015.
For those of you who drafted a top tight end, there’s no reason to try any funny business this week (any week). Other positions might have options with great matchups that can substitute for a starter’s terrible one. At TE, you’re not gonna leapfrog the top dogs even with the best of matchups.
