Speaking to Collider, director David Dobkin confirmed that “for many, many years every year I got offered to do the sequel, there were some very big deals on the table.” However, Dobkin said that neither he, Wilson, nor Vaughn “wanted to do a retread of the same movie again.” It’s unclear how much Warner Bros., the company behind the DCEU movies, offered Dobkin to do the movie but it sounds as though it could have earned the director a good amount of money.

Fans will be glad to know that since rejecting Warner Bros. deals, Dobkin has changed his mind. After thinking about it, Dobkin said “I’d be curious what it’d be like for guys in their late 40s who end up being single again and have to go back out in the world” and joked that it would be a “weird, difficult, challenging story.” Dobkin also confirmed that he has started “noodling on” Wedding Crashers 2. That doesn’t mean that it will happen and that fans should expect another great comedy movie, but it does make it a possibility.

It’s unclear when Wedding Crashers 2 could begin production or when it would be released. Dobkin said that there is “no rush” to make the movie, while movie release date delays and production changes because of COVID-19 have also shifted the industry’s plans.
